Cocoa Island is located in South Male atoll in the Maldive Islands. This is the undisturbed archipelago where centuries of tides have sifted porcelain-fine sands into a dazzling, cushion-soft white. On Cocoa's fringe grow wild sea grapes, hibiscus and palms. Diving is among the best here in the world with two private house reefs.
Some rooms are inspired by local dhoni boats in bleached wood with Maldivian ka-jan roofs. Other rooms are duplex loft villas, and all have sundecks with steps leading directly to the ocean. They are reached via planked walkways stretching out into the lagoon. From your platform bed, watch fishermen traverse the cerulean sea.
The restaurant, like the rest of Cocoa Island, honours nature's bequest, featuring seafood and organic vegetables cooked by an award-winning chef inspired by South India's heritage. Enjoy all this, and more as well, soaking up the warmth and silence of an understated private island that energises the soul.
