"The resort was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was varied and excellent. Dining rooms were excellent and dining a relaxing experience. We especially enjoyed the Caribbean luncheon where they showed us how to do ice sculptures and the towel animals. The pool was immaculate and there were always fresh towels. The man who cleaned our room was meticulous in every detail and every need was met in a timely fashion and a smile. The games were great for a diversion and we enjoyed a great day at XCARET. It was only a five minute taxi ride into Playa Del Carmen and the shops have a wide variety of goods. We have been there before and always feel very safe. Be prepared to barter. Telling them you have to go and ask your husband gets you an automatic drop of another five dollars off most things. This was our first stay at the Riu Tequila but definitely not our last. The only thing that I noticed was the number of children here compared to other Rius that we have stayed at. I might add that it was not a problem and they all seemed very well behaved. Sometimes they were a little exuberant around the pool during my siesta time but they have lots of activities for the children and they all seemed to have agreat time too. It was a great vacation!!!!!!!! ." - Cheryl, from Sarnia, Ontario
