"This was our first holiday in Mexico and we stayed at the Imperial Las Perlas. The room had two double beds with bathroom both of which were very clean, towels changed every day and the water was very hot. Shampoo and soap provided. We found the menu choice to be very good at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool was cleaned every day. The hotel was small and friendly, nothing to do for older children. The dining room was situated across the beach and the bar was in the open air, brilliant when the weather was hot and sunny, but not so good in the wind and rain. We would certainly stay there again, we had no complaints about anything." - Jeanette, from Huddersfield England

Remarks:
" Don't be put off by the negative reviews. We were more than satisfied with the room - big bed, small balcony, fairly big room, clean, fresh towels every day, few toiletries (soap, shampoo). Leave a tip for the maid every day ($1-$2) cause they change shifts quite often. I've been in much worse at Yarmouth! Sea at beach very safe cos not very deep. Not much to do for kids over 10. Needs a few sun umbrellas cause no shade until about 2pm. No entertainment at night, just a CD player (very loud during the day and staffed by entertainment team). Good for having a few or so drinks at night before going out around 11pm to the bars and discos in hotel zone. Say hello to Eusabio (very good barman).
Would recommend downtown for both tourist shopping for souvenirs, getting your hair braided etc but doesn't start getting busyish until around 12.30pm. Downtown also very good at night for a meal, drink, listen to live groups (they play all sorts of music from Mexican to fairly up to date English, eg U2)Cheaper than hotel zone. Very safe & friendly. Cost of taxi to Hotel Zone around 40-100 pesos depending what time you go and how good you are at haggling. Taxi to downtown around 30-60 pesos. Get the bus for 6.5pesos(but not at very busy times, eg 1-3pm as they get very very crowded)Plenty of buses, usually don't have to wait for more than 5minutes.Handy tip - press the button at the back of the bus to get off, unless you sit right behind the driver and ask him to let you know when the stop is. In short: You get what you pay for - but with LOTS OF SUN! Hotel zone not really worth going to until around 8pm (til 6am)." - Rob, from Northampton, England
