Alaska Granted Portland-DC Route
Synopsis: The Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved an application by Alaska Airlines to fly non-stop between Washington, DC's Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Portland International Airport (PDX). Service is expected to start in early September.

United Relocating Some Flights At SFO
Synopsis: As part of its expansion at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), United Airlines will be moving some domestic flights (mostly to Southern California, excluding LAX) from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. Expect to see changes starting in early June.

Summer Travel Outlook
Synopsis: It's going to be a busy summer for airlines! A travel industry trade group says planes will operate nearly full all season long as close to 180 million passengers are expected to board flights in the U.S. between June and August.

Eurostar Planning Network Expansion
Synopsis: Eurostar, operator of high-speed rail service between London and both Paris and Brussels, says it will add up to 10 destinations over the next five years. The company plans service into the Netherlands, Germany, and southern France.

Big Changes For Sea-Tac Car Renters
Synopsis: The days of true "on-site" rental car facilities are quickly coming to an end...especially for those renting cars at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). All rental car pick-ups/drop-offs will move this week from the airport parking garage (a short walk from the terminal) to the new consolidated rental car facility (think shuttle bus ride).

Virgin Atlantic To Allow In-Flight Cell Phone Use
Synopsis: Travelers flying Virgin Atlantic's Airbus A330 aircraft between London and New York can now use their cell phones during the flight. However, due to bandwidth limitations only about 10 passengers can use their phones at one time.
