All 188 guest bedrooms and suites were fully refurbished in 2003 and 2004. Olga Polizzi, Director of Building and Design, has personally overseen the refurbishment of the bedrooms.
The 168 guest bedrooms and 20 suites have been individually designed. Each bedroom has its own characteristics, borrowed from our Scottish heritage, which offers a true refuge in which to relax or escape. The striped carpets and paint colours in the bedrooms have the earthy colours of the moors, mists and heathers that one associates with Scotland. Natural fabrics were used throughout: linens, silks, wools and leather and introduced on headboards, valances and comfortable armchairs.
Attention has been given to the in-room facilities to ensure that whether you visit on business or to enjoy the city and surrounding countryside, your needs can be satisfied. Each room has individually controlled air conditioning, spacious marble and ceramic bathrooms with fluffy towels, robes and luxury amenities, two telephone lines and independent dataport connection. Fax machine and printer, interactive national and satellite televisions and in-room refreshment facilities are discreetly located.
Several bedrooms and suites have magnificent views of Edinburgh Castle, the Sir Walter Scott Monument and Princes Street. If you wish to complete your visit to Edinburgh, these rooms can be reserved for a daily supplement of £50. Other rooms have views of the city, whilst some are internally facing.
